Doug Rucker (2018-2019)
Doug Rucker showed fifty-two pieces of his photographic artwork at City Hall. The exhibit ran from November of 2018 through January 28th, 2019. Until his retirement in 2012, Doug was an architect in Malibu for 54 years doing mostly houses, remodels, and an occasional apartment. He's also written seven comedy books and seven other books including Trial by Fire, a story of building his Malibu Knolls pedestal house, its burning, and rebuilding of a more fire resistant house over the same foundations. Where painters and sculptors evolved art from their feelings, Doug chose photography to do art. He used unrecognized forms, colors, and shapes to enlarge and make interesting art. His theory of reflective art emerged to making non-objective, or abstract art.
