Although Powwows didn’t originate in California, the Chumash and other tribes in the state have gathered to sing, dance, socialize and heal for many generations. Native Americans gather at Malibu Bluffs Park each spring to celebrate their heritage and the original settlers in Malibu, the Chumash. Chumash Day is a free, two day event and is open to everyone. In 2024, the City of Malibu will be celebrating 24 years of hosting the Annual Chumash Day Powwow and Inter-tribal Gathering.
This is a not a contest powwow.
